Since 2011, the Food Recovery Network has been partnering with colleges and universities to promote food rescue. The Network has chapters at over 113 colleges and universities in 30 states and Washington, DC that recover edible surplus food from on-campus dining halls and other eateries. Since September 2011, Food Recovery Network has recovered over 600,000 pounds (300 tons) of food and donated it to people in need
