This toolkit can be customized and used by any interested local government or community group to reduce wasted food from households. The kit includes the following:
- An Implementation Guide for local governments or other implementing organizations. Pilot findings and a planning guide are included in the appendices.
- Tools include a challenge to measure household food waste, a storage guide a, shopping template, and a reminder prompt. The measurement tool enable households to see the impact of their actions immediately.
- A Research Report, which provides an analysis of food loss research, and a selection of key waste prevention behaviors including perceived barriers and benefits.
- An Evaluation Report which includes an in-depth analysis of 17 Food: Too Good to Waste campaigns conducted in 10 states from October 2012 through December 2014.
